The Night before the Test!
Organize your bag for test day
The night before, gather everything you need for the CBEST test to avoid running the next morning. If you are taking the paper-based version of the test, you must have the admission ticket you received with you when you registered. A sharp pencil number 2 is also required. You will only have access to the pencils you bring on the day of the test because the test sites do not provide pencils.
Several things cannot be entered into the CBEST test area. These include the following: calculators, hats, food, bags, cell phones, weapons. A complete list is provided on the CTC website. In some cases, those taking a paper-based test may be allowed to bring a bottle of water to the test center. The bottle must be label-free and clear.
Eat a well-balanced meal
It is a proven fact that what you eat affects your mental and physical performance. Avoid doughnuts and coffee or pizza and soft drinks the night before the test. Grilled fish with steamed vegetables, caffeine-free beverages, and mixed fruits for dessert will be great in all cases. Heavy and fatty food can make a person lethargic after eating.
Map out your route
If you have not been to a test site before, search it online and choose your route. You don’t want to be trying to discover where to go on the morning of the CBEST test. Unexpected delays may occur every day, schedule your time to go to the test site with 20 minutes more.
Computer-based test-takers are asked to plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the CBEST test is scheduled to start. Paper-based test-takers must arrive at the time indicated on the admission ticket.
Get a good night sleep
If you get enough rest, your memory will be much better. In one study, students who got enough sleep before a math test was better than students who stayed up all night studying.

Answer every math question
The CBEST scores are based on the number of questions you answer correctly – there is no penalty for incorrect answers. So, make sure you answer each math question to get the highest score possible!
Check the answer again
Do not rush to answer questions. In each CBEST math question, after calculating the answer, check the answer and the method of calculating again to make sure that the answer is correct.
Stay calm

Especially because of the pressure of time, students who suffer from test anxiety often stumble if they are forced to skip a few questions. Don’t let this happen to you! Go ahead and respond to what you can. You may find a question that at first seems much easier to answer.
After the Test!
After the CBEST test, you take some time to relax. Do not go into too much detail about what you should have said, written, or done. You cannot change the decisions you made during the CBEST, so accept it.
